Johnny_D
OK Forum In a few threads over the past couple of months I've noticed people are becoming more frustrated with layalina.Aparent changes in taste and quality?I've, personally, had three bad batches of late :-BlackBerry, Raspberry and Watermelon. So much so that 1/2 of each have ended up being binned. The cut was funny and the taste was really off. However maybe it wasn't bad batches and just a general disregard in QA [Quality Assurance]Thoughts, Opinions & Evidence?JD Edited February 20, 2008 by Johnny_D
Scoop
the watermelon was not the delicious goodness i once had.and honestly, i feel like i just stabbed someone after i pack it. the whole counter has stains, my towels get stained, my hands glow red for days...why do they add that garbage.JD you need tangiers in your life...step up to the plate
Codename067
Yeah, agree with Scoop.many of their flavors went bad...Strawberry/Kiwi comes and goes, sometimes good, mostly bad, so its always a risk buying it. thats why i gt 50g packs where i can actually open the packet and smell it.The decline in quality is very noticeable. [I cant speak for 250g tubs, never bought them]
Bulldog_916
I thought their raspberry was excellent. I was tempted to get blueberry too. Also Esk. apple. Are people becoming elitist with Fantasia, Fusion, Tonic, Starbuzz, Tangiers, etc? Are what were generally considered the cheaper brands being squeezed out? Are what were generally considered the cheaper brands being squeezed out?Absolutely! Whatever is expensive or trendy people buy. It's a status symbol. I've smoked Fantasia (Blueberry and Sweet Red Melon) not much flavor. I've smoked Fusion (Cactus Pear) I really liked it. I've smoked Tonic (Chocolate Mint Vanilla) not as good as the much cheaper Al Waha After 9. I've smoked Starbuzz (X on the beach) it tasted nasty, couldn't finish it. I've smoked Tangiers (Juicy Peach, Vanilla, and Kiwi) you know how that went. I've also smoked Layalina (Blueberry, Coconut, Mangosteen, Passion, Peach, and Watermelon) not one of thier flavors wowed me. Not enough or straight up bad flavor. If you dislike any of the above named brands you are seen as a horrible person subject to ridicule. Nakhla, Al Waha, Al Fakher, Hookah Hookah, Hookah Freak, Pharaoh's, and Al Amir White Grape for me. Ralleac
Layalina is one of my favorites. The kiwi, esk. apple, blueberry, peach, cola, apricot, and mangosteen have all been great for me.
shisha fan
i notice it too, i have three layalina tub here that don`t taste very strong: kiwi/strawberry, raspberry and blackberry. the peach and watermelon are just fine and produce plenty of flavor. austinthecity
I just bought a 250g of blueberry and love it.It's some of the juiciest tobacco I've ever used. (more so than tangiers)Personally, I dumped the bag into a lock-n-lock container and stir it before every use. I wonder if some people are letting it dry out or not stirring it? It used to be a favorite around here, but some of my friends get edgy if I so much as mention the word kiwi now. To quote my friend, they smelled and tasted like "rotten macaroni and cheese." Everything else has been golden, though. Edited February 20, 2008 by Ralleac

chromecarz00
Nakhla FTW! Easiest avail for me, cheapest, reliable flavors...sure there are better but theyre for special occasions...Hey listen I think I got a bad batch of AF pineapple, can anybody else speak? Its like cardboard and black licorice, I usually dont bin it, I just smoke it with a reallly cold water, gives great smoke but shitty flavor... Texico
I haven't had any problems with my Layalina. I just got a new 250g tub of Blackberry, too, and it's perfectly fine.I don't understand why so many people like Starbuzz. I don't like that stuff at all.As long as Al Fakher, Al Waha, Layalina, and (when I get my apartment) Tangiers still exist I will never buy Starbuzz. jayson
Yeah, I agree with a few of the posters here. There is definitely an elitist attitude going around regarding some brands. Sort of the same attitude that goes with the consumers of "Evian" or "San Pelligrino" water. In the end, it's fucking water!Granted, shisha is a tad more complex, sure... but I can't bring myself to drop $30 for 250g of Starbuzz, when I can get a 250g brick of Al Waha for $5.13 after tax. Sure, I can't get it in tropical wild freaky flavors, but I am an easy man to please. Maybe when I make my millions I can come back and smoke all the fancy stuff, but until then, the Al Waha and others will have to do.
